The Lord's Supper
The Lord’s Supper is a gift from the Lord Jesus to His people that we administer each Lord’s Day. If you’re visiting with us you may wonder whether or not you should participate in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. We don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable in partaking. Participation in the Lord’s Supper should never be decided based on social pressure or without proper understanding. It’s the Lord’s table; therefore, we try to follow His instructions as nearly as we can. In light of His instructions, and in the name of Jesus Christ, we welcome you to take the Lord’s Supper with us, if you can say, “Yes” to each of the following questions:
- Have you been baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit?
If you have not yet been baptized with Christian baptism, you can make arrangements for baptism by speaking with Pastor Boothby or one of the church elders.
- Are you trusting Jesus Christ alone for your only hope of forgiveness and eternal life?
- Have you declared your repentance and faith in Jesus Christ before the church?
- Are you an active member of a church, which faithfully professes the gospel?
If you are not a member of such a church, then we invite you to consider becoming a member of this congregation. Pastor Boothby or one of the church elders would be happy to speak with you about this.
If you can sincerely say, “Yes” to each of the above questions, we welcome you to the Lord’s Supper in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We believe He wants you to renew your covenant bond with Him and His Church in this way; and that you should do that today!
If you are unclear or cannot say, “Yes” to each of the above questions, then we ask you to refrain from partaking of the Lord’s Supper. You are welcome to talk with our pastor or one of our elders about proper participation in the Lord’s Supper.
