Rev. David Brack

Pastor Brack is a native Texan. Having grown up in Austin and graduated from McCallum High School, he went to Tyler Junior College on a football scholarship from 1966-68. He then returned to the University of Texas in Austin to finish a BA degree in Philosophy.  Prior to his graduation from UT in 1970 he met Betty Richey, from Corpus Christi, Texas and they were married in 1972.  From 1970 – 1991 David served as a Young Life Area Director, first for four years in Waco, Tx. and then for seventeen years in Amarillo. He left his senior Young Life position to pursue full time pastoral ministry in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in 1991. He was ordained as a minister in the OPC and installed as our pastor in 1993.

Since his ordination he has preached through the Pastoral Epistles (1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus), the Gospel of Mark, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Ezekiel, selected Psalms, the first 20 chapters of Exodus/Ten Commandments, and Matthew 5-7, the Sermon on the Mount, and the Westminster Shorter Catechism,  the Apostles’ Creed and a variety of doctrinal and pastoral topics. You can listen to his sermons here.  He is currently serving on the board of Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. He enjoys handball, camping, reading, working in his yard and listening to a wide variety of music, everything from classical to country to pop to rock to jazz to opera to bluegrass to folk to Celtic to a local Amarillo genre known as cow-jazz!

David and Betty have four grown children, and three beautiful grandchildren.

Elders

Our Church is governed by a Session of Elders who are elected by the congregation as men recognized to be gifted by the Holy Spirit to be Christ’s undershepherds in teaching, guarding, and ruling over his flock in love.  The Ruling Elders along with the Teaching Elders (Pastors) provide spiritual oversight and counsel to the members of the church.  To learn more about what it means to be a Presbyterian, please visit the Beliefs page. Our Pastor is David Brack who also serves as the moderator of the session. Our Ruling Elders are John Brack (Clerk of Session) and Kerry Rice.

Deacons

The board of Deacons is made up of men who are chosen by the congregation as men recognized to be gifted by the Holy Spirit to perform the ministry of mercy in caring for the physical needs of the church. Our Deacons are Rodney Betts, and Dr. Mel Huebner (treasurer).
